Dados Históricos: O disco de vinil surgiu em 21 de junho de 1948 nos EUA pela Columbia Records e na Europa em 31 de agosto de 1948, pela empresa alemã Deutche Grammophon – ambas reivindicam o direito de serem as inauguradoras deste formato, todavia, o fato é, foi em 1948 o ano que o vinil surgiu para o mundo substituindo os discos de goma-laca de 78 RPM (rotações por minuto) que até então eram utilizados, tornando-os obsoletos. Mas, a primeira patente que fala sobre o uso do vinil foi requerida em 26/06/1929 e concedida em 17/07/1930. Portanto, desde 1929 já se falava em discos elaborados com o vinil e nem Columbia e a Deutche Grammophon requereram qualquer patente para reivindicarem o processo de gravação dos discos em vinil. Os discos de vinil são mais leves, maleáveis e resistentes a choques, quedas e manuseio (que deve ser feito sempre pelas bordas). Mas são melhores, principalmente, pela reprodução de um número maior de músicas – diferentemente dos discos antigos de 78 RPM – (ao invés de uma canção por face do disco), e, finalmente, pela sua excelência na qualidade sonora, além, é lógico, do atrativo de arte nas capas de fora. A partir do final da década de 1980 e início da década de 1990, a invenção dos compact discs (CD) prometia maior capacidade, durabilidade e clareza sonora, sem chiados, fazendo os discos de vinil ficarem obsoletos e desaparecerem quase por completo no fim do Século XX, tendo seu ressurgimento a partir de meados da primeira década inicial dos anos 2000.

However, the first patent that talks about the use of vinyl was applied for on 06/26/1929 and granted on 07/17/1930. Therefore, since 1929 there was talk of records made with vinyl and neither Columbia nor Deutche Grammophon applied for any patent to claim the process of recording vinyl records. Vinyl records are lighter, more malleable and resistant to shocks, falls and handling (which should always be done by the edges). But they are better, mainly, for the reproduction of a greater number of songs - differently from the old 78 RPM discs - (instead of a song per face of the disc), and, finally, for their excellence in sound quality, besides, it is logical , of the art attraction on the outside covers. From the end of the 1980s to the beginning of the 1990s, the invention of compact discs (CD) promised greater capacity, durability and clarity of sound, without squeaking, making vinyl records obsolete and disappearing almost completely at the end of the 20th century, having its resurgence from the mid-first decade of the 2000s.
