Dados Históricos: A expressão Imaculada Conceição passou a ser quase um 'nome' de Nossa Senhora. Muitas mulheres, inclusive, recebem o nome de Conceição. Ao pé da letra, Imaculada Conceição significa 'concepção sem mancha'. Quer dizer que, desde o momento de sua concepção, Maria foi preservada da mancha (mácula) do pecado. Imaculada Conceição, portanto, é um título de Nossa Senhora que diz respeito à sua própria natureza: humana e sem pecado desde a concepção. A representação da Imaculada Conceição de Maria é rica em significados. A meia lua debaixo dos pés é uma característica importantíssima na imagem, a lua não tem brilho próprio, mas reflete a luz do sol. Na Iconografia cristã, o sol é Jesus Cristo. Por isso, a luz sob os pés de Maria significa que sua luz vem de Jesus e leva a Ele. A lua brilha no meio da escuridão da noite. A escuridão simboliza a humanidade pecadora e a lua simboliza a pureza e a luz. Significa que Maria, mesmo tendo nascido na humanidade pecadora, foi preservada do pecado pela graça de Deus, desde sua concepção no ventre de sua mãe, Santa Ana. Ela é a Imaculada Conceição, foi concebida sem o pecado original. Por isso, ela brilha como a lua, refletindo a luz do sol, que é a verdadeira fonte de vida, de luz e de calor. A serpente sob os pés da Imaculada Conceição Significa que Maria, sendo 'Imaculada Conceição', concebida sem pecado, e tendo gerado Jesus Cristo, ela esmaga a cabeça da serpente, como está escrito no livro do Gênesis. Immaculate Conception, therefore, is a title of Our Lady that concerns her own nature: human and sinless from conception. The representation of the Immaculate Conception of Mary is rich in meanings. The half moon under the feet is a very important feature in the image, the moon has no brightness of its own, but reflects the sunlight. In Christian iconography, the sun is Jesus Christ. Therefore, the light under Mary's feet means that her light comes from Jesus and leads to Him. The moon shines through the darkness of the night. Darkness symbolizes sinful humanity and the moon symbolizes purity and light. It means that Mary, even though she was born in sinful humanity, was preserved from sin by the grace of God, since her conception in her mother's womb, Santa Ana. She is the Immaculate Conception, she was conceived without original sin. Therefore, it shines like the moon, reflecting the sunlight, which is the true source of life, light and heat. The serpent under the feet of the Immaculate Conception It means that Mary, being 'Immaculate Conception', conceived without sin, and having begotten Jesus Christ, she smashes the serpent's head, as it is written in the book of Genesis. In Mary the victory over the devil began and this victory was concluded by the death and resurrection of Jesus. Still at the feet of the image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, we see the cloud and angels. These two symbols reveal that the Virgin Mary is in heaven, in the glory of God, together with the angels, of which she is Queen. The hands of Nossa Senhora da Conceição joined at the heart symbolize prayer. In all the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, she asks for prayer. She herself, while living in this world, was a woman of prayer. And now, in heaven, he never ceases to pray, interceding for everyone.
