English Version

Did you know that Saint Rosa de Lima was called Isabel Flores y Oliva? Her mother starts to call her Rosa when she realizes that while she was growing up her face turned pink and was of great beauty. Saint Turíbio de Mogrovejo, then Archbishop of Lima, after giving him the sacrament of confirmation in 1957, definitively puts the name of Rosa, which is still known today. She is the first saint of Latin America and Before being canonized in 1671 by Pope Clement X, she was proclaimed patron of Peru in 1669, the New World and the Philippines in 1670.
When visiting the Sacred Art Museum of Mato Grosso, the visitor will be able to see an imaginary of Saint Rosa de Lima dating from the 17th century that was brought to Cuiabá by Bandeirantes. And it comes from the Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict Church. What makes this piece singular and perhaps unique is the way its primitivist, Latin, young and almost childlike features characterized it, with long, brown and wavy hair thrown back giving us access to the face, brown eyes made of glass and a sharp nose, with the eyebrows thin and slightly arched.
Always represented using a black cloak and white tunic in this piece, it differs when wearing a clear and long tunic, with phytomorphic and polychrome adornments in gold with friezes of the same coloring. Under it is a blue-colored mantle and a red lining that wraps around his back and crosses his body, falling back on his left arm, having no adornments except for the golden friezes of his cape; another important curiosity is that they always represent her with a third of roses in her left hand, but in this imaginary her hands are turned upwards and are disproportionate to her body, as well as her feet.
